Sustainability at Mount Lemmon Lodge
At 7,700 feet, Mount Lemmon is more than a beautiful destination, it’s a fragile alpine ecosystem with limited natural resources, especially water. At Mount Lemmon Lodge, we’re committed to being responsible stewards of this “sky island” environment. Through mindful design, conservation initiatives, and guest participation, we aim to preserve the mountain’s natural beauty while offering an elevated and comfortable experience.
Water Conservation
Water is especially scarce at this elevation, so our team has implemented thoughtful conservation measures throughout the property:
- Short Shower Challenge: Every guest room includes a 5-minute hourglass timer in the shower, inviting guests to conserve water while refreshing after a day on the mountain.
- Towel & Linen Reuse Program: Guests are encouraged to reuse towels and bedding during their stay. A small gesture that makes a big difference.
- Low-Flow Fixtures: All rooms are equipped with high-efficiency showers, faucets and toilets to reduce water use without compromising comfort.
- Drought-Resistant Landscaping: Our Forest Gardens feature native, water-wise plants that support pollinators and require little irrigation.

Electric Vehicle
Charging
To promote greener transportation, Mount Lemmon Lodge offers an two EV charging station for guests with electric vehicles. It’s just one more way we support lower-impact travel to the mountain.
Natural Setting & Outdoor Spaces
Nestled in the heart of Summerhaven, the Lodge is surrounded by protected land and sits just steps from a nature reserve. Guests can enjoy quiet moments in the Forest Gardens, relax in outdoor lounge areas, or explore nearby trails, all without driving. Nature is part of your stay.
Individual Climate Control
Each guest room includes individually controlled heating and cooling, allowing guests to adjust their environment while minimizing energy waste. You stay comfortable, and we all conserve.
Energy Efficiency
We use LED lighting, energy-efficient appliances, and smart thermostats to reduce our footprint while maintaining a cozy atmosphere throughout the Lodge.
Recycling & Eco-Friendly Products
Recycling bins are available in common areas, and we use biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products to protect your health, and the planet’s.
Support for Local & Sustainable Goods
Our gift shop features handcrafted, sustainable items from local artists, and Beyond Bread Café sources locally when possible to reduce environmental impact and support the community.
Off-Mountain Laundry Services
All laundry is transported off the Mountain for cleaning, requiring the Lodge to maintain a large inventory of towels and linens to meet demand while reducing water-intensive operations onsite.
Conservation in the Dining Room
In an effort to minimize water used for dishwashing, we’ve replaced traditional china and silverware with sustainable bamboo plates and cutlery. While it’s a departure from the table service we originally envisioned, we believe water conservation is the greater priority.
